Are you a fan of large birds of prey, delicious coffee with yummy food and boutique shopping of uniquely South African products? We found a great place to add to your itinerary. The Heath is 20 minutes after Knysna and just before Plett. So if you going for a road trip, in our opinion it’s a must-do stop.

The Raptors Rescue centre is a passionate place run by Mark Robson. They’re knowledgeable of the birds but more important so caring. It’s an amazing place to visit and see these animals up close.

They rescue these animals and where possible rehabilitate them for the wild. It’s incredibly humbling to see these powerful birds fly over your head and the Fish Eagle give you a once over when it’s the size of your 5-year-old son!!

The shopping is good too, so take some cash. It is a drive but like anything, in the garden Route the scenery will blow your mind and you’ll be there before you know it.
Shows do depend on the weather, so make sure it’s a sunny day and best call beforehand.
